Camp Snoopy opened at Knott's in 1983 and marked the first time a theme park built an area just for kids.
On the Red Baron, kids can ride their own mini Sopwith Camel – a British World War I single-seat biplane fighter. Years ago, the Red Baron was in the Boardwalk, next to where Coasters is today. It was moved to Camp Snoopy to make room for Perilous Plunge.
A pontoon bridge invites guests over the river and into the caves.
Camp Snoopy is the most landscaped, and arguably the most beautiful area of the park.

Go for a traditional ferris wheel ride on the High Sierra Ferris Wheel.
One of two roller coasters in Camp Snoopy, the Timberline Twister is a pint-sized chase through the forest.
A ride for the more adventurous members of the family, Sierra Sidewinder is one of the country’s only spinning coasters. Don’t underestimate this one; the free-spinning cars add an unusual sensations to this otherwise tame ride. It’s really a lot of fun. 
The Grand Sierra Railroad takes guests on a gentle journey under Sierra Sidewinder, Montezuma's Revenge, Jaguar! and Silver Bullet.

Peanuts Playhouse (1983 - 2008). The playhouse was removed November 13th, 2008 to make room for something new.
Years ago, the Red Baron was in the Boardwalk, next to where Coasters is today. It was moved to Camp Snoopy to make room for Perilous Plunge.
ReplyDeleteCorrection: The Red Baron used to be in the Boardwalk when it was called Roaring 20s until 1982 to move to the then newly-developed Camp Snoopy in 83.
I'm not sure...I distinctly remember the Red Baron in the Boardwalk long after 1982.

ReplyDeleteI also like to add a little more in this article: Years ago, before the Sierra Sidewinder was built, there used to be a boat ride called Walter K. Steamboat. It used to go all around the lake where the Silver Bullet now stands. After the Silver Bullet opened, the boat ride was shortened around only what's left of the ride until 2006.
